Special this Season: Sight and Sound
This season the Lexington Symphony presents a fascinating collaboration with the National Heritage Museum and the Polaroid Collections.
Music Director Jonathan McPhee has "choreographed" short works by Mascagni, Mendelssohn, Sibelius and Gounod with photos from the Polaroid Collections on the theme of animals. The photos are by local and internationally renowned artists, from Ansel Adams to William Wegman, and will be shown on a large screen during a brief portion of the November and February performances.
Sight and sound work together as the music brings the viewer deeper into these thought-provoking images. During the intermission, the audience is invited to visit a selection of photos from the concert in the special exhibit "Fins, Wings and Other Such Things" hosted by the Museum.
