Jonathan McPhee, conductor

Stefan Jackiw, violin

Bruch Scottish Fantasy

Violinist Stefan Jackiw is a rising star who, at 20 years, has soloed with major orchestras in the US and England, is the recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, and has appeared as guest artist with the Celebrity Series, Boston. In preparation for an upcoming concert tour, Jackiw will work with the Lexington Symphony and conductor Jonathan McPhee in an open rehearsal of Bruch's Scottish Fantasy. This will be a behind-the-scenes look at how an orchestra, soloist and conductor work together to shape a concerto. Evening includes an open "Q and A" session with the soloist and conductor and a complete performance of the concerto. This program will be a unique opportunity to hear a young artist on his way to stardom and to visit with him personally in the Q and A. For all young soloists, it will also be a wonderful chance to understand the preparation involved in presenting a concerto with an orchestra. Invitations to this event were sent to area students and their families.

"Thank you for a spectacular experience last night. The open rehearsal was wonderful and getting to hear Stefan play was indescribable...Thank you for making this opportunity happen for the community."
