Midnight Ride of Paul Revere

For children, parents, grandparents, ...

Spooky graveyard, skulking British soldier, lapping of oars in Boston Harbor, horse's hooves racing towards Lexington - all the drama of the dawning hours of the American Revolution is masterfully described in music in Julian Wachner's narrated "Midnight Ride of Paul Revere," performed, along with a shortened version of the big evening concert by the Lexington Symphony at its Children's Concert at 4:00 pm.

The concert is preceded by a 2:30 pm workshop with instrument petting zoos from Rayburn Music and Johnson String Instrument; conducting demos with Boston Ballet Music Director and Lexington Symphony conductor Jonathan McPhee including a raffle for the opportunity to conduct the whole orchestra; craftsmen's demonstrations of how instruments work and are made; and an exploration of the current Lexington Reads children's book, The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere, by its illustrator, Caldecott Award winner and Lexington resident Christopher Bing.

Photographer Alice M. Hughey will be showing Variations on a Theme in the lobby.
