Sibelius Symphony No. 5

Catchy rhythms by a young Richard Strauss are followed by the glorious Korngold Violin Concerto, which borrows themes from famous film scores written by the composer. Don't miss this opportunity to hear rising star Stefan Jackiw perform - an artist recognized as one of the most significant of his generation. The haunting Valse Triste by Sibelius is followed by the contrastingly comedic March of the Marionettes, known to some listeners as the theme from TV's Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Sibelius' fifth symphony, a work of staggering beauty, is described by the composer himself as "triumphal".
