Jason Horowitz's penetrating interpretations make him an "assured, eager advocate" (Boston Globe) of composers of all eras. The Boston Herald described his playing as "eloquent, persuasive, and, of course, wonderfully adept." His many appearances in Boston's renowned Jordan Hall include solo recitals, concertos ranging from Bach to Scelsi and Schnittke, chamber music, and several world premiers, including a "serene, limpid-toned performance" (Boston Globe) of the concerto by Donald Sur. His concerts have taken him across America, Europe and Asia.
Having received both performance and academic honors upon graduation from New England Conservatory, Mr. Horowitz returned to receive the school's highest performance honor, the Artist Diploma, in 1998. During these years in Boston he also had the opportunity to work closely with the legendary Louis Krasner. He then continued his studies in Berlin with Christoph Poppen, joining the Munich Chamber Orchestra shortly thereafter.
Mr. Horowitz has participated in the Tanglewood, Norfolk, Banff and Pacific Music festivals, and has been concertmaster of the Breckenridge Music Festival since 2001. His yearly concerto performances there have included works of Tchaikovsky, Berlioz, Beethoven, and Mozart.
Other recent concerto engagements have included the Mendelssohn Concerto in the Czech Republic, the Menotti concerto with the Charleston Symphony, and Distant Light by Peteris Vasks with Boston Ballet, to choreography of Peter Martins.
