SENSATIONAL TCHAIKOVSKY WITH LEXINGTON SYMPHONY AND VIOLINIST IRINA MURESANU

“It’s a tribute to the quality of Boston’s classical-music scene that a suburban orchestra like the Lexington Symphony is capable of a performance to attract the attention of those who live closer to Symphony Hall.  Even if the BSO season were in full swing, last Saturday’s program would have been worth the trip.” – Jeffrey Gantz, Boston Phoenix, review of Sept. 2008 concert

Lexington Symphony played its first concert of the 2008-2009 season in September to a full house of nearly 800.  The group performs again in Cary Hall, Lexington on Saturday, November 8th at 8pm.  The program showcases works by Tchaikovsky and features award-winning violinist Irina Muresanu in the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto.  Also on the program are Mussorgsky's Dawn over the Moskva River and Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony; a conductor’s talk with Music Director Jonathan McPhee takes place at 7:00pm in the concert hall.

Violinist Irina Muresanu, whose playing has been hailed as "thrilling” and “drop-dead gorgeous" by the Boston Globe, has won numerous international competitions and prizes and is a frequent soloist in the U.S. and Europe.  McPhee is one of New England’s leading musical figures and is entering his fifth season with the Lexington Symphony.  Equally at home as conductor for the ballet, and opera, McPhee has conducted orchestras throughout the world.
