Symphony members perform Schumann’s masterful Piano Quintet; Principal Flutist Ona Jonaityte plays Debussy’s colorful Syrinx; recent LHS graduate Luke Lee and pianist Paul Carlson present Sarasate’s Introduction and Tarantella for Violin; Lexington’s own Jeff Leonard shares what it takes to be a Broadway pit musician. Symphony finale: Selection from Schumann’s Symphony No. 3.

Stories, New Life
OCTOBER 24, 2020 | Saturday 7:30PM

Principal Clarinetist William Kirkley delights with Stravinsky’s Three Pieces for Solo Clarinet; the Lexington Symphony Wind Quintet shares works by Gabriel Pierné and contemporary American composer Valerie Coleman; Taiwanese composer Wan Yun Liang’s wonderful Once in a Blue Moon features talented young euphonium player Isaiah Carver; Symphony musicians play a selection of Nordic folk tunes arranged by the Danish String Quartet.

Symphony finale: Finale from Bizet’s Symphony in C.

New Directions

Lexington Symphony’s horn section performs works by Paul Hindemith and Ulysses Kay; unique double bass duets featuring Principal Bass Robb Aistrup and his son, Halden Aistrup; LHS standout Marilyn Swinger plays Poulenc’s Sonata for Flute and Piano with Paul Carlson.

Celebrity guest appearance from cellist Jennifer Kloetzel. Symphony finale: Selection from Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony.
